The Hunterdon Energy Aggregation Cooperative (HAEC) Energy Aggregation Program will be ending with residents’ first meter read after November 30, 2021. Residential customers in Washington Township and 12 other participating municipalities who did not opt-out of the program or contract with a different third party energy supplier have previously received lower rates on the electricity supply portion of their bill through cooperative bidding than through the basic generation service (BGS) with JCP&L. Bids submitted by suppliers at auction held on September 22 and October 20, 2021, were higher than the current BSG rate with JCP&L, so the program will not be continued after the current contract ends on November 30, 2021. Participating customers in the program will be reenrolled with the BGS through JCP&L unless they select an alternative supplier. The HAEC will also send a notification by mail to participants. The HAEC anticipates soliciting bids again in Spring 2022. Residents should call the program’s energy consultants at 866-688-5197 with questions and for program updates.
