Well Check Program

Representatives from the Township Administration, Health, Emergency Management, Senior Programming, andf Police have come together and developed the Well Check Program Enrollment Form.  By enrolling in the program you will make Township personel aware of your needs.  In the event of an emergency the Well Check Program Enrollment Forms will be used to communicate and assist those in need.  If you have any questions about the program, please contact the Washington Township Public Health Nurse at 908-876-3315 x 1242

NJ Ease

Morris County recently instituted a program to provide Senior Citizens with a no cost method of obtaining information of interest to Washington Township's Seniors. The program, NJ EASE, provides a simple and easy method to get information about services provided by a number of agencies.

The toll free number, 1-800-564-4656, allows Seniors, their family or caregivers the opportunity to have questions about healthcare, in-home care, long-term care options, insurance, transportation, social activities, nutrition and volunteer opportunities answered.

NJ EASE is a State of New Jersey initiative intended to promote the well being of residents 60 years of age and older. The program is designed to foster independence, dignity and self-sufficiency, regardless of financial status.

In Morris County, the Division on Aging, Disabilities and Veterans is the local access point for NJ EASE. Calls to the NJ EASE toll-free number are handled by staff members who are trained to provide information in a courteous, professional and timely manner.

Resource materials are regularly updated so the information provided by the Morris County EASE staff is always current.

The NJ EASE toll-free number to call in Morris County is 1-800-564-4656. The service is in operation Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 5 PM

Office of the Ombudsman

The New Jersey Office of the Ombudsman for the Institutionalized Elderly is part of a national resident-focused advocacy program that seeks to protect the health, safety, welfare, and civil and human rights of older individutals in institutions.  Staff and volunters work with individual residents to help them address challenges they may face.  If you, or someone you know, lives in a long-term care facility and has a problem or concern, please contact this agency.

If any member of your household depends on electrically operated life-support equipment, please let us know by calling 1-800-662-3115. JCP&L will send you a form that must be completed and signed by your physician every year to verify that you have life-support equipment.

Do you have questions about your Medicare options?

Help could be a phone call away. Local counselors certified in the State Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP) are available. For Washington Township residents call: 973-784-4900 Ext. 208 and someone from the Skylands Volunteer Resource Center will assist you in making an appointment at a local site in most cases in Washington Township.

Skylands Volunteer Resource Center is the New Jersey State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP) Local Office in Morris County.

If you are a Medicare beneficiary and resident of Morris County with questions about Medicare, call the SHIP office at Skylands Volunteer Resource Center for free, objective and confidential services.

SHIP (State Health Insurance Assistance Program of Morris County) is a state-wide program, administered by the New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services, Division of Senior Affairs, with major funding from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. Skylands Volunteer Resource Center is the sponsoring organization for the program in Morris County.
