Storm Update - 8/5/20 - 3:30 PM
Mayor Murello completed a call with JCP&L who provided an update on the damage assessment and restoration process from the storm. In the last 24 hours, approximately 565,000 remain without service from the original 788,000 customers in northern and central New Jersey.
In Town, about 4500 people remain without power, from the original 5800 outages and most of our public buildings are running on generator power. Long Valley Fire Company has a charging station set up outside their station under a tent form 2 to 7 pm and call 908-876-3232 x 0 if in need of overnight sheltering and we will open the Senior Center at Rock Spring Park.
Global restoration times will be published by JCP&L this afternoon/evening, so keep an eye out for that information but this restoration effort will likely continue until the weekend. JCP&L believes that mostly everyone should be back on no later than Friday. The utility also stated that they have brought in additional crews today to help with this effort.
Verizon reports their network should be back to normal operating levels at 6 pm today.
During the storm, police were out closing roads, DPW was removing trees, closures and down power lines reported by OEM to county and JCP&L and via rave alerts and shared on social media and website and continue to be updated. Our DPW is doing cleanup today and OEM is continuing to compile damage reports.
Please report outages and downed wires to JCP&L.
