AGRICULTURAL ADVISORY BOARD
The Agricultural Advisory Committee identifies project areas of multiple farms, compiles and maintains an inventory of agricultural lands within the Township and renders assistance to the Washington Township Planning Board with regards to the preparation of the farmland preservation plan element.

BOARD OF HEALTH *
The Board of Health enforces all ordinances of the Township which relate to public health or nuisances, septic systems, radon, lead paint, etc. and makes all necessary rules and regulations for the protection of the health of the inhabitants of the Township. They sponsor many well care programs, i.e. flu and blood pressure clinics, cancer screenings and child health clinics.

ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE
The Washington Township Economic Development Committee’s mission is to attract and support those businesses compatible with the character of the Township into the industrial, commercial and office research zoned properties within the Township to build ratable in these categories and thereby reduce the tax burden on township residents.  Call 908-876-3315 for meeting date & times to be determined.

ENVIRONMENTAL COMMISSION
The Washington Township Environmental Commission, an advisory board to the Municipal Government of Washington Township, consists of volunteers who make recommendations regarding land use, natural resource protection and other environmental issues facing our community.  Meetings are held at 7:30 PM in the Municipal Building on the first Monday and third Wednesday of each month.

AD HOC GREEN TEAM
Green Teams leverage the skills and expertise of team members to develop plans, implement programs, and assist with educational opportunities that support the creation of a sustainably community.  The role of the Green Team is to lead and coordinate the sustainable activities of the community. .

HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION *
The Washington Township Historic Preservation Commission oversees changes involving existing properties and new construction within three historic districts and several individual sites.  It also acts in an advisory position to any homeowner of an historic property within the township.  Meetings are the third Wednesday of the month.  Training through state conferences is available.

LIBRARY BOARD OF TRUSTEES *
The Library Board of Trustees oversees, develops and analyzes policy, justifies annual budgets, as well as future planning needs and has input regarding “collections” development, various services and staffing practices. 

MUNICIPAL UTILITY AUTHORITY *
The MUA Committee Members are appointed by the Township Committee to oversee the actions of the MUA by setting policy and adopting rates and budgets of the MUA.  Each Committee Member is appointed for a five year term.  The Committee meets on the first Wednesday of the month to conduct the business of the MUA, i.e. approving bills, reviewing past operations and setting policy.


OPEN SPACE COMMITTEE
The Washington Township Open Space Committee’s mission is to preserve township land for recreational, historical and agricultural purposes.  They serve to educate the public on the advantages of land preservation and are the first point of contact to landowners considering land preservation.  The group meets bi-monthly.

PLANNING BOARD *
The Washington Township Planning Board meets 3 times a month and has frequent site walks for pending applications.  The nine member planning board’s essential duties are to deal with policy and the implementation of that policy through the site plan and sub division ordinances. These ordinances establish a series of ground rules to be met by applicants.  If the applicant meets the ordinance requirements, the planning board must approve the subject application.

RECREATION COMMITTEE
The recreation committee is committed to providing a wide range of programs, leisure activities and facilities to Washington Township residents.  We strive to provide all parks and recreational services that our community requires, and desires for the present and future of our ever-expanding and ever-changing community.  

SHADE TREE COMMITTEE
The role of the Shade Tree Committee is to act in an advisory capacity to the Planning Board.  Some of the duties of the Committee are reviewing plats of proposed development projects, recommending shade trees to be planted and replacing dead trees along township streets.

AD HOC TRAILS COMMITTEE
The Ad Hoc Trails Committee was created to encourage participation in the decision making regarding trial construction and accessibility. 

ZONING BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT *
The Zoning Board of Adjustment hears zoning variance applications and appeals from rulings and determinations arising from the enforcement of Township zoning ordinances, as well as interpreting current zoning for various applications as the need may arise.
